Evanescence - "Wake Me Up Inside " lyrics

Wake me up inside.
(I can't wake up)
Wake me up inside.
(Save me)
Call my name and save me from the dark.
(Wake me up)
Bid my blood to run.
Before I come undone.
(Save me)
Save me from the nothing I've become.

Now that I know what I'm without,
You can't just leave me.
Breathe into me and make me real.
Bring me to life.

(Wake me up)
Wake me up inside.
Wake me up inside.
(Save me)
Call my name and save me from the dark.
(Wake me up)
Bid my blood to run.
Before I come undone.
(Save me)
Save me from the nothing I've become.

Bring me to life.
(I've been living a lie.
There's nothing inside)
Bring me to life.

Frozen inside without your touch,
Without your love, darling.
Only you are the life among the dead.

(All of this sight,
I can't believe I couldn't see
Kept in the dark
but you were there in front of me)
I've been sleeping a 1000 years it seems.
I've got to open my eyes to everything.
(Without a thought
Without a voice
Without a soul
Don't let me die here.
There must be something more).
Bring me to life.

This song is something Candy would sing to Joe when he takes her to the cottage and tries really hard to make her stop using heroin. Joe is all what Candy has now and she relies on him a lot and he's her only hope to make her feel better again and become normal.Candy becomes lifeless, emotionless yet angry and wants to kill Joe for not letting her take drugs but he doesn't give in to her and stops her from using heroin. This song reminds me of Candy's inner voice because so many of the lines like "don't let me die here" and "bring me to life" are all evidence of how strongly she depends on Joe and wants his help. This song reminds me of Candy and Joe's relationship everytime I listen to it. It brings out her emotions like "I can't wake up inside" and "bring me to life" is how she screams for help from Joe.

I LOVE THIS BOOK :). I read it last year and think its very good, I also love this song by the way but I agree with you that it can relate to the book and would be from candy to Joe. She needs him to help her and I don't know how far along you are in the book so I don't want to ruin anything for you but I agree with you and hope your enjoying the book.

It would be so cool if you can like get the song on the blog. That would be really hot.=D

Otherwise I love your blog and according to what you wrote, the song does seems to fit the book or part of it at least.

ohhh. From what you said about Candy, this song really sounds like it connects to her relationship with Joe. This book is about Candy taking drugs, and Joe trying to stop her? Sounds interesting. and it reminds me of "Go Ask Alice" a little bit. The whole "drug theme."

I wanted to read this book, but I couldn't find it at the library =[
But I guess I have to look harder because this book sounds so good.

I've seen a couple fo people reading this book around school.
The story sounds very interesting.
While I was reading it i was thinking how i would feel if I was in Candy's place and how I would act.
The book sounds very inspirational.
By the way, the lyrics are a good metaphor for the story of the book

Woah. I seen alot of people reading this book. I actually heard the song "wake me up inside" and not one of those happy happy songs. It kind brings heavy emotions. This book must be super intense to be having someone using heroin and have a connection with this song. I hope you are enjoying the book alot.
